Conceived by concerned parents, Bonny Sosa and Sam Young, Healthy Futures is a statewide, grassroots movement
to empower Alaska youth to become physically active for life. And while we mourn the loss of Bonny, we at Healthy Futures remain committed to her vision of a healthier, happier Alaska.
Youth health and fitness was a work of love, and a passion with purpose for Bonny. She and her husband, Sam Young, founded Healthy Futures in 2003, and worked hard to spread the initiative into communities and schools throughout Alaska. The mission of Healthy Futures is threefold.
- Advocate the benefits of physical
fitness.
- Provides tools for teachers and parents to motivate children
to assume physical activity into their daily routine.
- Promote
youth attendance at community recreational events.
